How to connect RadioBOSS to NOX Radio.

RadioBOSS is a Windows broadcasting suite used by many community and internet stations for live presenter shows and scheduled playouts. Here's how to point RadioBOSS at your NOX Radio stream.

Step-by-step

Setup walkthrough

  1. 01

    Install RadioBOSS

    Download RadioBOSS from djsoft.net and run the installer. Launch RadioBOSS — the main window shows your playlist deck, library and broadcast panel.

    Open Broadcasting settings

    Go to Settings → Broadcasting (or press F9). The Broadcasting dialog lists your encoder destinations — RadioBOSS supports multiple simultaneous outputs, so you can stream to NOX Radio and record locally at the same time.

    Add a new encoder

    Click Add. Set Server Type to Icecast 2 (or Shoutcast V2 if your NOX Radio station is configured for Shoutcast).

    Paste your NOX Radio credentials

    Fill in the server details from your NOX Radio dashboard: — Server: your streaming host — Port: as shown — Password: your source password — Username: source (or as specified) — Mountpoint: /live (or as shown) Leave the public stream listing toggles as recommended in the dashboard.

    Choose the audio format

    Set Format to MP3 LAME or AAC, with Bitrate 128 kbps for music or 64 kbps for talk. Sample rate 44100 Hz, Stereo. Click OK to save the encoder.

    Set up the playlist

    Drag music from your library into the main playlist or load a saved rotation. RadioBOSS will play through the deck in order while broadcasting.

    Start broadcasting

    Click the Broadcast button in the toolbar — the icon turns green when connected. Press Play on the deck and your listeners are live. Click Broadcast again to disconnect at the end of the show.

  • — Use RadioBOSS's Voice Tracking to pre-record presenter links between songs — it sounds live without needing a presenter at every show.
  • — Schedule your RadioBOSS instance to run only during live presenter hours; let NOX Radio's server-side AutoDJ cover the rest.
  • — RadioBOSS supports automatic reconnect — turn it on under Settings → Broadcasting so a brief disconnect resolves itself.
  • — Add a second encoder pointing to your backup recording app for off-platform show archives.
